i’m still stupid fucking obsessed with this game

So, the year is finally coming to an end. And to be frank, this year was really good! It was chock full of experimenting, and that’s what made it special to me. I really got to grow as an artist, so I feel it’s important to recap all the cool stuff that happened this year. So without further adee, here is a simplified recap of my year!

Things I forgot

• I’d also made seven songs of… varying quality (two were MIDI covers which were nice, a new one’s coming soon BTW!). I don’t remember if they’re good or not tbh.
• I made a name for a game! Like, a game that’s actually being made, Money Man Refunded. I’ll be putting that one on my resume in large, bold, cherry scented marker-written (and perfectly replicated) Comic Sans font.
• I deleted one drawing, entirely for the better. If you saw it then you know which one I’m talking about.

A quick update on the big piece, there’s only twelve enemies left for me to draw! If you’d like some extra info on where I’m currently at with the piece, I’ve just about finished World 3, heading into World 4, and added some stuff from World 5.

Hey fellas!

I’m currently making one big art piece right now, so there might be some extra delay between this piece and the previous. It’s another Pizza Tower piece, nothing too unexpected here, but it’s gonna be bigger than all of my other pieces by like… well not particularly tenfold, but I would say fivefold. Just, look at what’s been finished up to this point and see what you think, okay?

That scout’s there to take up empty space btw, he likely won’t be in the final piece. So yeah, that’s what I’m trying to do. Hopefully I’ll actually get it out this time unlike every other time I’ve promised something and it never comes out! cya

Tankmen: Blast

Last year, I teased a game I’d be making called Tankmen Blast. It was going to be a House Of The Dead style OTR shooter with Newgrounds memorabilia spread across it like a fine butter. I had a whole storyline planned for it (of which you can view in a soon-to-be-made document), I has teased a couple shitty songs for it, and then it came to the gameplay.

Teasing the game with its most stable part, the music, lead to me going back & forth on the idea for months, until silently dropping it by April of this year. And to add to that, I hadn’t even made anything gameplay wise! So, I let the game rot in the back of my cranium until I remembered it existed it a couple days ago.

MariObama

Cut back to 2013, and Serbian funnyman LeatherIceCream is teasing music for his own soon-to-be game, MariObama. Him & his 3 other friends, Harvey, Luz, & Vinh, would work on the game together. However, the four had their own responsibilities outside of MariObama, such as video-making & streaming on a regular basis. Thus, those got in the way of MariObama’s development, leaving a bunch of songs, a handful of cutscenes, & one unfinished test level to rot on Leather’s hard drive.

Čeda, & the spiritual return of MariObama

Unlike me, however, Leather & company (minus Luz, though nobody knows where he ended up) actually got around to making a full game off the basis of MariObama, titled At Least There Is Čeda Čedović. This is the best of outcomes for if MariObama were to be cancelled, as their plans came back together for an actual game instead of a husk of a former plan.

Why’d I screw up?

So why’d my game flop? Simple: I’m a dumbass. I didn’t know how to use GMS2, and there was no way in hell I’d use Scratch, like are you kidding me? So a good lesson to learn from MariObama is this: Don’t tease something until it’s at least mostly finished. Otherwise, you might pile on a ton of hype too soon, when you have nothing to show for said hype. I didn’t learn this lesson until a week or two ago, with tons of things. A planned album, the Pizza Tower megapiece, and maybe some other stuff I forgot. Don’t make the same mistake I did, kids, it’s about as good for your health as forever chemicals are.

TL;DR Only tease things when they’re mostly finished

Whoopee! I made THREE posts today! And no, I didn’t make all the posts today. Reason as to why I only posted them all today was because

• I forgot to post the Pizza Tower & Anger Foot ones on the day I made them
• I had a buncha cool shit going on (meeting up with family and friends, y’know. crazy stuff.)
• I’m LAZY!

And yeah that’s about it. Normal stuff, nothing too out of the ordinary. Enjoy the art i guess lmao

EDIT: I MADE A FOURTH ONE RIGHT BEFORE THE DAY ENDED I AM UNSTOPPABLE

Last week I played the demo for Anger Foot, and here’s what I have to say about it: holy crap holy crap holy crap that was SI-I-ICK. Quite possibly the only game where you actively have to kill somebody, let alone MULTIPLE PEOPLE that are using the shitter to complete an objective.

Gaemplé Rivyoo

I know this example has already been run into the ground now, but yeah it’s first person Hotline Miami. And while I’ve never played either of the Miami games, if they’re this intense/cool as shit/tough as nails then I’m SOLD.

Dying in this game is punishing as hell, since there are no checkpoints in the levels, but to make up for that every enemy takes only one hit to kill (minus the bosses for obvious reasons). And if you do some objectives that range from average to hard, you’ll unlock special shoes as well!

These shoes give you gameplay modifiers like gaining more ammo after killing enemies or explosive doors, with my personal favorite being the Chrono Kicks which slow down time for a bit after kicking down doors (which is the only way to open doors btw). These were really fun to mess around with and even use strategically, and i’m excited to see what other sick kicks there’ll be once the game releases.

Overall the gameplay rewards strategic and fast-paced actions, along with rewarding you for going out of your way to do shit like only using your feet as weapons.

GAEMPLÉ SCORE: 9/10

Steil Rivyoo

This one’s self explanatory. If you’ve seen my OCs, then you should KNOW i love grimy and crazy designs. Just about everything in this game either looks disgusting (e.g. the guy you play as himself) or ridiculous (e.g. guys with a hand for a head that flip you off), and when both of those things are mixed together, it comes out looking amazing! It doesn’t even take an in-game screenshot to show this, even the promo art matches up with this.

The music is adaptive, which is always fresh as hell. It becomes more intense the more enemies you’re dealing with, and the genre it’s in perfectly fits this game’s style as well. Loud, intense, and pumping fits the music as much as it does the game itself, so it creates a perfect harmony of chaos.

Ok, I’m running out of good things to say about this game. No stoorie rivyoo since it’s practically nonexistent, it’s “guy kills baddies because they stole one of his prized pair of shoes” so I’d LOVE to see how Wikipedia will try expanding it out to even two paragraphs.
